Obituary

THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF BERNARD EVANS

. Well known area Real Estate Agent

MIDDLEBURY - Bernard Lloyd Evans, age 91 of Middlebury, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend and nearly 50 year Middlebury resident passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on 8/7/2020 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. Evans

Bernie was born on 7/17/1929 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania. He attended Finlay College on a full tuition football scholarship and continued to play the sport when he joined the military. During his Air Force career he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and was a model for the service, appearing in ads for training and recruitment. He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Business Management and pursued a 28 year career with Uniroyal. He served in a number of positions including from 1971 as Human Resources manager at the Oxford Research Center in Middlebury. As a retiree he remained involved with Uniroyal by attending monthly retiree’s luncheons, the investment club and participating on golf and bowling teams. He finished his professional career with Coldwell Banker as a top agent, retiring at age 88. He was very active in the community volunteering his time with the American Red Cross, Saint John of the Cross Church, the Town of Middlebury and the Connecticut River Council of Boy Scouts.

Left to cherish his memories and honor his love and legacy besides his devoted wife Pat of nearly 40 years with whom he loved to garden and travel with, are his daughters; Lori Evans Ermi (Todd) and Lisa Muray; granddaughters; Lydia, Kate and Lexie and a great-grandson, Jack. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur Lloyd Evans and Lorraine (Schlinger) Evans, and his wife, Kathryn H. Evans, who passed away in 1979.

A celebration of Bernie’s life will held at a later date at the convenience of the family. To honor Bernie’s memory and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Mattatuck Museum Building Fund 63 Prospect St Waterbury CT 06702 and to Vitas Innovative Care 199 Park Rd Ext Suite 102 Middlebury CT 06762 are encouraged and greatly appreciated. Casey’s Eastside Memorial Family Funeral Home has been honored to assist the Evans family during this difficult time. Memories endure only if you share them, so you are encouraged to leave a condolence, words of comfort or a personal memory with the Evans family on Bernie’s tribute page at www.eastsidememorial.com.
