WATERBURY - Carroll E. Murphy, age 81 of Waterbury CT, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Waterbury Hospital with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Mary (Aston) Murphy who he was lost without after her passing.
Carroll was born on June 28, 1937 in Fort Fairfield ME, the son of the late Donald and Muriel (Woodland) Murphy. He was employed for many years as a Pipe and Steam Fitter with UA Local 777. Carroll was a hardworking, family man, who was always available to help friends family and neighbors with any of their mechanical needs, even in the middle of the night. After his wife Mary passed he enjoyed picnics and holidays at his sons house, Christmas Eve at Marjorie’s house and when he was more mobile day trips with his daughter Mary. For Carroll there was no greater priority. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. Murph had many nicknames, among those, Suti Ray, Poppy, Red, Dad, Poppyhead, Grandpa, Cooters, The Ole Fitter and Wrought among many others. He was famous for the “Suti Pat”, even passing it down to his great grandsons.
He is survived by his children; Carol Damelio and her husband, Phil Marcoux of Waterbury, Donald Murphy and his wife, Lisa of Wolcott, Mary Aurio and her husband, Gary of Waterbury, Marjorie Malaspina and her husband, Joseph of Middlebury, and Nancy Murphy of Plantsville.
