Obituary

THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF DORIS C. BLINSTRUBAS

Devoted to her family

WATERBURY – Doris Cecile (Boucher) Blinstrubas, 90, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2020, in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter G. Blinstrubas for 60 years.

Doris was born on October 14, 1929 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of the late Arthur and Sarah (Dugre) Boucher. She was a graduate of Wilby High School. Although Doris’ love for her family and raising her five daughters was her number one priority, she was also a proud member of the Knights of Lithuania for over 60 years and was a 4th Degree Knight. Doris was also a long-time member of the Ladies Guild of St. Leo the Great Church and served on the Membership Committee for many years. In addition, Doris was a former member of Les Dames de Ste. Anne. She bowled on a league with Walter at St. Joseph’s bowling alley for many years, was a championship roller skater in her earlier years, loved playing Bingo at St. Leo’s church hall and was a big UConn women’s basketball fan. One of her most favorite things to do every week was to spend a day shopping and going to lunch with her sisters, Rita and Dorothy. For 20 years, Doris spent the winter months in Florida with her husband after his retirement. Summer vacations would be spent at Lake Champlain in Vermont, going to Cape Cod or the Jersey Shore. Growing up, Doris also loved traveling to Canada to visit her relatives.

Left to cherish her memory and honor her love and legacy are her four daughters, Janet Williams of Oxford, Nancy (Joseph) Dennis of Wolcott, Mary Blinstrubas of Newtown and Judith Vecchitto of Waterbury, her three brothers Raymond, Roger (Denise) and Andrew (Janet) Boucher and two sisters Rita (Roland) Dupre and Dorothy Cantillon and sisters-in-law, Sandra (Maurice) Boucher and Monique Boucher; four grandchildren, Gina, Patrick, Sean and Tony, her granddaughter-in-law, Synee, and her four great-grandchildren, Jalen, Reece, Francine and Aubrey, along with many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two of her brothers, Camille and Maurice Boucher, her beloved daughter, Cathy Blinstrubas, and cherished grandson, Francis Vecchitto III.

Arrangements: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic limitations, a graveside service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2020, at 11:30 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 East Main St., Waterbury, where Doris will be laid to rest with her dearly loved husband, Walter, and cherished daughter, Cathy. There are no calling hours. Those wishing to attend the graveside service will meet at 11:00 am at Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main Street, to join the procession to the cemetery. Everyone is asked to stay in their cars as required by both the government and cemetery regulations. A Memorial Mass for Doris will be held at a later date. The graveside service will be live streamed by logging into www.eastsidememorial.com and click LIVESTREAM To honor Doris’ memory, donations to Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, St. Leo the Great Church 14 Bentwood Dr Waterbury CT 06705 are greatly appreciated. Memories endure only if you share them, so you are encouraged to leave a condolence, words of comfort or a personal memory with the Blinstrubas family on Doris’ tribute page at www.eastsidememorial.com.

Due to the governments orders now in effect, there will be no public services for Doris.
The family will conduct private services and a memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date at St. Leo the Great.
Please keep Doris and her family in your prayers during these challenging times.

Janet, Nancy, Mary & Judy -- I was so saddened to read your mother's obituary this morning. I remember her as a very kind and sweet person who loved her family. Please let me know when her memorial will be scheduled after this whole virus fiasco. I envy that you had her for so many years - my mom passed when she was only 72! You can email me at suecote@sbcglobal.net when you have any details. XOXOXO Susie

Carmen and I were deeply saddened to hear of your mother's death. She always had a kind word and a beautiful smile that always put everyone at ease and feel welcome. Working with her at the K of L pancake breakfasts was always a pleasure. She was always at Judy's side whenever Judy was cooking, always helping. It was a tribute to her and your dad that so many of you accompanied her to the meetings, parties and breakfasts. I know I will miss her. Our condolences to all of you, her much beloved and dear family.
