A Loved Father and Grandpa
WATERBURY - James F. Lynch, 82, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, October 28, 2019. Jim was born in Waterbury on September 9, 1937 to James J. Lynch and Bridget E. (King) Lynch, both born in County Kerry, Ireland. Jim was predeceased by his wife Regina Rosselli Lynch.
Jim was a first generation Irish-American who enjoyed listening to Irish music and cooking corned beef for St. Patrick’s Day. He graduated from Leavenworth High School and served in the US Navy aboard the USS Zellars (DD-777). He worked for US Time/Timex as a tool and die maker before owning and operating the West Side Package Store on West Main Street for too many to count years, until retirement in 2016. He was an avid sports fan and lifelong NY Yankees and Giants fan. You could find any playoff results posted in the store for all to know the standings. Jim was proud of his service to our country and cherished his family. He loved our Sunday large family gatherings where he'd bring a dozen Dunkin Donuts, and every birthday celebration enjoyed a Carvel cake. And there are many birthdays. As a young father, he loved taking his family to The Cape for two weeks every year where he enjoyed fishing, cards, and playing at the beach. Jim enjoyed vacationing to Florida to spend time with his son Michael and family or to Ireland to see his extended family. He would entrust his two sons-in-law, Craig and David, to run the Package Store while away.
He leaves four children: Michael and his wife Leigh of Merritt Island FL, James Jr. of CT, Bridget and her husband Craig Girch of Terryville, CT, and Shannon and her late husband David Egbert of Bethel CT. Jim has 13 grandchildren that he adored: Anna, Eric and his wife Varya, Sean and his wife Amanda, Corina, Hannah, Alyssa, Benjamin, Joshua, Alana, Caleb, Devin, Madelyn, and Olivia. He had two siblings: John and his wife Mary Jane of Kensington, CT, and Eileen and her husband Tom Donahue of Litchfield, CT. He was predeceased by his beloved cousins Sheila Lanese and Michael Moriarty. Jim is also survived by extended loving family members in CT and Ireland. Although his presence is gone, we know he will always be with us. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Your passing bring back the memories of our High School days, and our times in the military; you in the Navy with brother Mo, and me in the Air Force. In those days we had few choices, pick the service of your choice, or the government would pick one for you (The Army) . I remember the days when we met for the holidays and your dad let us drink his beer (room Temperature), and our spur of the moment planning during the holidays, on how to get to the train station so we would be back to base before being deemed AWOL. I passed this on to Brother Mo so that he to could look back to the good old days. May you rest in peace, and God bless. Jim

We are so sorry for your loss .We send our deepest condolences and prayers to all of you. Jimmy was a great person and friend.
We truly enjoyed knowing him for so many years. I (Susan) knew him through my Uncle Nippy when they used to have to babysit for me! He always shared fond memories that we had through the years.
Bobby really enjoyed his company and friendship throughout the years as well as getting sports updates from Jimmy while visiting him at the store.
Through our relationship with Jimmy we were privileged to make some great friendships with his family.
May a great man Rest In Peace.
