Obituary

THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF JOSEPH ROLAND BELLEFEULLIE.

WATERBURY – Joseph Roland Bellefeuille, age 90 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 2nd, 2020 at Saint Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Emily (Petulla) Bellefeuille. Joseph had a zest for life and lived each day full of joy and happiness. He brought a smile to all who knew him and will be missed by many.

Joseph Roland was born February 18th, 1930 in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Armand and Grace (Deshaies) Bellefeuille. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School and proudly served his country in the Connecticut National Guard. Joseph held various positions at Ramos Iron Works of Naugatuck where he was affectionally known as “Joe Belle” during his 32 years at the company. He then worked for Segre’s Iron Works until his retirement in 1992.

Joe and the love of his life, Emily, were happily married for almost 70 years. They raised a beautiful family with 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He was always happiest while spending time with family and friends, including Macaroni Sundays where all were welcomed. His blue eyes and big smile always lit up the room as he would share stories of how he and Emily met and fell in love.

Joe split his time between CT and Florida, where he loved the sunshine. He enjoyed sunset walks on the beach, boat rides with friends, and cheering on the Red Sox’s! Joe loved being outdoors, taking pride in his garden and getting a kick out of feeding and watching the many birds in his yard. He enjoyed dancing, regularly checking the stock market, word searches and doing puzzles with family. His homemade wine was enjoyed by many- Joe Belle Zinfandel, a fine Italian wine with a Frenchman’s special touch! He was a man of faith, attending St Francis Xavier Church and praying daily for those in need. He will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Left to honor Joe’s memory and legacy is his wife, Emily, and their children: James Bellefeuille and his wife Evelyn, Janice LaPlaca and her husband Jerry, Judy Surprise and her husband Donald, Jean E. Freeman and her husband Jim, and Joanne Casavant and her husband Leo. He also leaves his two sisters, Jeanette Swircenski and Cecile Schiavo, as well as many nieces and nephews. He’ll be missed by his loving grandchildren & their spouses: Paul & Jessica Swift, Krista & Byron Crosdale, Jennifer & Blake Levin, Melissa & Kevin Lohr, Julie LaPlaca, Jessica Casavant & Michael McKay, Michael Surprise, Janelle & Beau Moore, and Eric Casavant, along with 13 great grandchildren, & dear friends Isabel & Marty Martins. He was predeceased by his sisters Lillian Altiere, Yvette Robillard, and Simone Bellefeuille, along with his sister in law Anna and her husband Thomas Kouveras.

Funeral Services for Mr. Bellefeuille will be held on Saturday November 7th at 11:00 am at Saint Francis Xavier Church- 625 Baldwin St Waterbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church and please be advised that all COVID#19 guidelines currently in effect, will be strictly enforced. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. A walk-through only visitation will be held on Friday November 6th from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home at 1987 East Main St Waterbury, Ct 06705. Memories endure only if you share them so you are encouraged to leave an on-line condolence, words of comfort or a personal memory with the Bellefeuille family on Joseph’s tribute page at www.eastsidememorial.com

Dear Bellefeuille Family,
Please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of such a wonderful man. Joseph was a true family man and so much fun to be around. We enjoyed spending time with him and his lovely wife, daughter and granddaughter over the holidays at Mike & Jess’s house. He did make some mighty fine homemade wine and could be counted on to bring a bottle or two for us to share along with some great stories. May you find comfort in knowing that he is in the loving arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Rest In Peace, Joseph.
With Love,
Rosanne and Barbara Daddona
