WATERBURY - Mrs. Marguerite (Iris) Simpson, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of her family at St Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of George Simpson.

Marguerite was born in Waterbury on July 23, 1937 the daughter of the late Harold and Alice (McQuillan) Iris. She was a graduate of St Francis Xavier Grammar School and Waterbury Catholic High School. She worked for many years as a secretary at Loehman Blasius Chevrolet, for Dr. Michael Buckley and at Westover School in Middlebury. Marguerite was an avid reader and loved to crochet. Marguerite loved riding throughout CT in the convertible on warm summer days. She was an avid bowler and she also loved to cook for her family and truly enjoyed Facebook and all of her friends there. She cared deeply for her family and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a parishioner of SS. Peter & Paul Church.

Besides her husband, she leaves her three children; Chera Simpson, Steven Simpson and Janet Shaw all of Waterbury, her grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Shaw and her great granddaughter, Shailyn Shaw. She was predeceased by her brothers, Harold and Franklin Iris.

Funeral services for Mrs. Simpson will be held on Saturday February 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury CT. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Marguerite’s family on Saturday morning from 9:00 till the service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
