Obituary

THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF RICHARD BARTOLINI

Richard “Richie” or “Rich” Alan Bartolini, 59, passed away unexpectedly on August 21, 2020 after being hospitalized at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT. Rich was born on May 5, 1961 to Alfred and Mary (Legge) Bartolini of Wolcott.

Rich graduated Wolcott High School in Wolcott, CT in 1980. He met the love of his life, Janet, there and became high school sweethearts. They were married on June 5, 1982 and lived in Wolcott, CT for most of their lives. They had three children and one grandson.

He was currently employed at Lowe’s Home Improvement in Plainville,CT and worked there for many years. He had a long history of working in retail and had worked at Bradlees, Marshalls, and Jo-Ann Fabrics. Rich had a funny personality and loved cracking jokes. He was great at barbecuing, hosting holidays and parties, and baking his homemade cheesecake. Rich loved watching ice hockey, especially the NY Rangers, woodworking, and Grumpy Cat.

Rich had a large, supportive family who loved him. He is survived by his loving wife Janet (Kovaleski) Bartolini of Wolcott, his eldest daughter Rachel (Bartolini) and son-in-law Chris Harrington of La Quinta, CA, and son, Zek Bartolini of Crossville, TN. He also leaves behind his grandson, Dylan LaBoudy, who he loved so much. He is survived by his sister Diane Sandell, and his brothers, Gino, Bobby, Freddy, and Jimmy Bartolini and their families.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred & Mary Bartolini, and in-laws, Joseph & Adele Kovaleski, all of Wolcott, his son, Allan Bartolini, of Wolcott, and his brother, John Bartolini, of Waterbury.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, surgical team, nurses, and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT. They all cared for him relentlessly throughout the last year of his life.

Calling hours will be this Saturday, August 29th from 2:00 to 4:00pm at the family’s home of 41 Woodward Drive in Wolcott, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to consider making a donation in his honor to: The National Pancreas Foundation (NPF) at 3 Bethesda Metro Center, Suite 700, Bethesda, Maryland 20814.

My heart is sad to hear of Rich‘s passing. Although I haven’t seen Rich and Janet in many many years, when I think of them a smile comes to my face. Rich was a gentle guy, with a funny sense of humor, and all-around easy to get along with.

We will be praying for your family, May the Lord bless you with his peace and comfort. I know Rich is in a much better place, and We look forward to the day We will see him and all our loved ones again!

I only wish to have met the man that my dear Rachel called Dad. I would tell him thank you for his part in bringing such an amazing young woman into the world as his daughter Rachel Bartolini Harrington. I would tell him how she spoke often of him with admiration and great love. How she longed to see him again and how she prayed for him. I would thank him for instilling into her the values that helped develop her character, strengthen and drive her to do everything with a spirit of excellence. Good job Rich Bartolini ... I have the pleasure of working beside this remarkable woman, your daughter Rachel. I will look forward to telling you these things "in person" when we are in the presence of Jesus who was victorious over death and the grave, giving that same victory to all who also called Him Lord.
To the Bartolini family and all who loved you, my prayers for your peace and comfort will continue. Jan Lupia, and also on behalf of my husband Art ... one of your daughter's greatest admirers.
