Obituary

THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE CARING FOR AND ASSISTING THE FAMILY OF TANYA NIKITUK

Spent her career with Waterbury School System

WATERBURY - Tanya Nikituk, age 78 of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 10, 2020 in her home.

Tanya was born on June 8, 1942 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Anastasy and Elena (Harcovitz) Nikituk. She was a graduate of Crosby High School and the The University of Connecticut where she earned her Teaching degree. She taught elementary school for the Waterbury School system for her entire career. Tanya loved to travel with her Aunt Eva to countries all over the world. She was an avid skier and a member of the NAVA ski club. Tanya also loved golf and very much enjoyed the theater, especially Seven Angels which she supported generously. Some of her most precious memories were from time spent with her family at Cape Cod. Tanya will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. She was a parishioner of St. Marys Russian Orthodox Church.

Left to cherish her memories and honor her love and legacy are her brother, Stephen A Nikituk and his wife, Cassandra of Madison CT, her nephew, Stephen A. Nikituk Jr. of San Francisco Ca. and her niece, Kim Gifford of Danbury CT.

Funeral services will be held at a later date given the current restrictions of COVID-19. Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home has been honored to care for and assist Tanya and her family. In lieu of flowers and to honor Tanya’s memory, donations may be made to Seven Angels Theater 1 Plank Rd Waterbury CT 06705. Memories endure only if you share them, so you are encouraged to leave a condolence, words of comfort or a personal memory with the Nikituk family on Tanya’s tribute page at www.eastsidememorial.com

Steve and family: From a personal standpoint, and on behalf of the Crosby High Class of 1958 Reunion Committee, I offer you condolences on the loss of Tanya. To paraphrase the immortal philosopher Willie Nelson, "Death is something you will get through, but you will never get over." May she rest in peace.

I met Tanya at Hopeville School and being a new teacher she took me under her wing...We became great friends and shared a lot of great faculty parties together. She inspired many teachers and students and had a natural love for teaching.May God rest your soul and may the eternal light shine upon you Tanya.✝️❤️🙏🏻
